The iPhone 12 Pro was announced in October 2020, alongside the and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Along with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, they’re Apple’s first 5G phones. The iPhone 12 Pro costs less than the Pro Max, and it delivers a lot more power than either the 12 or the mini.

Almost every network wants to sell this handset, so, fortunately, there are plenty of deals to choose from. Here’s what you need to know about the model and how to check out the best offers on the market.

The brains of the iPhone 12 Pro are its A14 Bionic chip, which Apple calls its Next-generation Neural Engine. You have the choice of either 128, 256 or 512GB of internal storage. The phone runs the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS14.

Battery

The iPhone 12 Pro has a 2815mAh battery. The manufacturer says it’ll give you 17 hours of video playback, 11 hours of video streaming and 65 hours of audio playback.

Camera

Each of the iPhone 12 Pro’s four lenses takes pictures at 12MP resolution with a maximum zoom of 4x.

The lenses’ f-number range goes from f1.6 (wide lens) to f2.0 (telephoto lens) to f2.4 (ultrawide lens) and helps to produce great a bokeh effect on portraits.

The handset uses Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) to map 3D space, delivering images with a greater sense of depth.

In terms of video, the iPhone 12 Pro can capture footage in 4K at up to 60 frames per second (FPS).

Other

In terms of security, the iPhone 12 Pro comes with Apple’s Face ID technology. The handset has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, which means it’ll survive in up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. The phone also features 5G connectivity.

What Type of Deal Do I Need?

Unless you want to pay for the iPhone 12 Pro outright from £999, there are two main types of pay monthly plans.

Contracts

There are contract deals for an Apple iPhone 12 Pro with various networks, including EE, Three, Virgin Media O2, Vodafone, Sky Mobile and iD Mobile.

Some of the most popular contracts offer no upfront costs, meaning you don’t have to pay anything when making your order and can receive free delivery on your handset. This is convenient, but doesn’t necessarily rank as the best-value deal.

Paying a small upfront cost can sometimes reduce the plan’s overall fees.

Upgrades

If you’re an existing customer with a particular network, you may be able to upgrade your contract to an Apple iPhone 12 Pro device with no interruptions while retaining the same number and SIM card.

Typically, you’re eligible for upgrade deals within the last 30 days of your contract. If you’re not sure how long is left in your contract, visit your network’s website or get in contact with them direct.
