Latest iPhone 13 Pro Max Deals

iPhone 13 Pro Max specs and features

The iPhone 13 Pro Max changes nothing about the design of its predecessor, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which means you’ll get a 6.7” OLED display with a resolution of 2,778 x 1,284 and a pixel density of 458 pixels per inch (PPI). Its maximum brightness level is 28% higher than the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s screen.

The notch that houses the front-facing camera array has been shrunk by 20% however, and the new display refreshes at 120Hz, making animations and transitions smoother than they were in the last generation.

Unlike the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the iPhone 13 Pro Max runs on Apple’s new A15 Bionic processor. Apple says the A15 is 50% faster than the next nearest competition’s best chipsets and produces 30% faster graphics.

The A15 Bionic chipset comprises a six-core CPU and four-core GPU. Apple says it powers a lot of the improvements to the iPhone in this latest generation of handsets. For example, with better optimisation the new Pro Max will run for up to 2.5 hours longer than the last generation Pro Max from a single charge.

The A15 chip also enables a new video recording mode. Cinematic Mode reproduces the rack focus effect that Hollywood has been using for decades, automatically switching the focus between subjects in the background and foreground as they move in the frame. This gives your clips a cinematic feel, hence the name.

Cameras have been upgraded too. The main wide angle lens now has a f/1.5 aperture, compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s f/1.8 aperture, capturing more light for improved photography.

Similarly, the ultrawide lens has been upgraded from an aperture of f/2.4 to f/1.8, and optical zoom has gone up from 2.5x to 3x.

Ways to pay for the iPhone 13 Pro Max

Prices for the iPhone 13 Pro Max begin at £1,049 when bought directly from Apple – £50 cheaper than the iPhone 12 Pro Max was at launch. The 256GB model costs £1,149, the 512GB £1,349 and the 1TB £1,549.

If you’re not prepared to pay all that upfront, you can use 0% credit card to spread the cost or get the phone as part of a pay-monthly deal.

There are 0% purchase credit cards that charge no interest for more than 20 months, meaning you could split your repayments into as many as, say, 22 instalments – costing you £47.68 for the 128GB iPhone 13 Pro Max. Since there’s no interest charged, you won’t pay a penny more than the price of the phone.

If you fail to clear your balance by the end of the interest-free period, don’t forget to make at least the minimum repayments on time or go over your credit limit, you could be charged interest of around 20%.

Buy the iPhone 13 Pro Max from Apple and you’ll need a SIM-only deal to use the phone for calls, texts and data. iD Mobile currently has a 50GB tariff with unlimited calls and texts for £12 per month.

Protecting your iPhone 13 Pro

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is the most expensive phone that Apple currently sells. If you were to lose it or break it beyond repair, you’d face a big bill to replace it, potentially while still liable for monthly repayments towards a handset you no longer have.

AppleCare+ protects your iPhone against two incidents of accidental damage per year, subject to an excess of either £25 for screen damage or £79 for anything else. It doesn’t protect against loss or theft, though, and costs around £199 for two years.

Standalone mobile phone insurance may offer more complete protection. Check out our ranking of the best mobile phone insurance providers to see which providers offer the best prices and cover.

Home insurance and current account coverage

Your home contents insurance may offer limited protection for your iPhone 13 Pro Max. For complete protection you’d need a policy with accidental damage and personal possessions cover, however.

Also, the most expensive iPhone 13 Pro Max model costs £1,549, so it’s important to confirm that your home insurance policy’s single item limit is high enough to pay for a replacement. In some cases, single item limits can be around £1,000.

Your bank might offer mobile phone insurance as part of your current account, but you’ll need to register the device with it and be aware that its coverage might not be as robust as you’d get from a standalone policy.
