AEW Dynamite Fyter Fest featured a title change as Keith Lee and Shane Swerve Strickland became the new AEW world tag team champions.

AEW Dynamite Fyter Fest advertised Orange Cassidy challenging Wardlow for the AEW TNT Championship; an AEW World Championship eliminator match between Jon Moxley and AEW rookie sensation Konosuke Takeshita; and Claudio Castagnoli vs. Jake Hager in a battle of former WWE tag team partners. Dynamite also advertised and an appearance from Chris Jericho.

Last week’s broadcast of AEW Dynamite drew 979,000 viewers.

AEW Dynamite Results | July 13, 2022

Wardlow def. Orange Cassidy

Wardlow and Orange Cassidy used the “less is more” approach as Cassidy pulled Warldow’s pockets out, only for Cassidy to gently put Wardlow’s straps on. These received the match’s biggest reactions.

Predictably, fans really got behind the underdog Orange Cassidy.

Orange Cassidy became the first person to kick out of the F-10, similarly to how he kicked out of Will Ospreay’s finishers at AEW Forbidden Door. This is quickly becoming his gimmick: Lose to top stars, but don’t worry because you get to kick out of their finisher.

Chris Jericho Mocks Eddie Kingston’s Mental Health

Chris Jericho delivered yet another masterpiece of a promo as he spent every minute of his promo tearing Eddie Kingston down, and he didn’t waste a second.

Given some of the personal barbs levied in recent AEW promos from Chris Jericho and Christian—both of whom have been on fire lately—AEW promos are also starting to sound like the comment section of a subreddit.

Eddie Kingston had a great rebuttal to Chris Jericho’s fantastic promo, setting up a great “barbed wire everywhere” showdown between Jericho and Kingston.

Jon Moxley def. Konosuke Takeshita

I legitimately believed that Konosuke Takeshita had a real chance to beat Jon Moxley in a non-title match.

After another incredible match against a top star, Konosuke Takeshita is running away with the Rookie of the Year award in 2022, despite being a 10-year vet. On my ballot, the Rookie of the year clock begins during the first year on national television in the United States.

Luchasaurus (w/Christian) def. Griff Garrison

When Christian Cage came out to confront Brian Pillman Jr. I immediately knew where this was going.

Christian did not disappoint by mocking the late Brian Pillman as “average at best,” and saying Pillman’s worst contribution to this business was giving birth to Pillman Jr.

Luchasaurus squashed poor Griff Garrison after Christian convinced Luchasaurus that Garrison looked like Jungle Boy.

Luchasaurus needed two attempts, but he ultimately was able to chokeslam Garrison onto Pillman Jr. through a table.

Claudio Castagnoli def. Jake Hager

They don’t play it much, but Jake Hager’s theme song is straight fire.

William Regal was borderline aroused while expressing his love for this hoss fight.

It took a while, but the crowd eventually got into this highly physical match.

Serena Deeb def. Anna Jay

This match survived an early glitch or two and the last few minutes of this match were really good.

A backstage segment featured more infighting between Jade Cargill, Stokely Hathaway and The Baddies. It feels too early for this.

Keith Lee and Swerve def. Young Bucks Hobbs and Starks

This match spent nearly its entirety teasing a showdown between Keith Lee and Powerhouse Hobbs. Fans popped huge for the spectacle.

Ricky Starks and Nick Jackson did a dual rope walk/crotch spot. Starks remains the modern-day king of the rope walk.

There was a very generous “this is awesome” chant toward the end.

Matt Jackson (symbolically) taking out Swerve Strickland, Powerhouse Hobbs and Keith Lee with the AEW Titles is going to make for some hilarious memes.

This was an excellent match with a surprising finish of Swerve and Lee winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
