NetJets Expands Diverse Fleet To Meet Growing Demand

NetJets

By Bill Millar

Having spent nearly 60 years as the leader in private aviation, NetJets knows that it needs to provide its clients with a diverse fleet of top-performing aircraft.

With more than 800 jets ready to deploy on a few hours’ notice, that’s exactly what NetJets has done, and the company continues to expand and modernize its fleet, the largest of any private carrier. As part of a multibillion-dollar, multiyear fleet investment, NetJets is purchasing more than 175 new aircraft, nearly 80 of which will be delivered in 2022 alone.

Key to the NetJets model is its ability to offer the right equipment—the industry term for aircraft—for any given customer mission at the right place and time. In fact, NetJets guarantees it. If what a client requests isn’t available, they’ll get higher-grade equipment.

The NetJets fleet comprises 10 core types of aircraft across five jet classes: light, midsize, super-midsize, large and long-range. Keep reading to learn more about these classifications and how they meet the needs of NetJets clients.

Light Jets For Short Trips

These jets are perfect for flights up to four hours with up to six passengers.

Here, NetJets relies on the Embraer Phenom 300/E, which is known for its versatility. Capable of taking off from and landing on short runways, the Phenom 300/E, with a top cruising speed of 495 mph, can access the smaller airports that are typical of remote locations. Yet this aircraft also offers generous cargo space relative to its size. It’s an ideal choice for getting into and out of New York on business or for an impromptu getaway to Miami: Feel free to load in the beach toys and umbrella.

Given the high demand for the Phenom 300/Es, NetJets is working with Embraer to acquire up to 100 more. Delivery will start in 2023 in both the U.S. and Europe.

The Midsize Options

NetJets offers three midsize and two super-midsize jets. It begins with the Cessna Citation XLS, a seven-seater renowned for its ability to get into and out of smaller airports. Next up is the Citation Sovereign, lauded for its long range (seven hours and 15 minutes) and especially its high-altitude performance (think: the Rockies). Rounding out the midsize class is the Citation Latitude, whose spaciousness, comfort and smooth runway-to-runway performance make it one of the carrier’s most popular choices.

In the super-midsize category, the lineup continues to impress, starting with the Bombardier Challenger 350, a versatile aircraft agile enough for shorter runways but still able to perform coast to coast. But what really sets NetJets apart is its recently expanded stable of Cessna Citation Longitudes.

Working closely with Textron Aviation, NetJets designs its Citation Longitudes to meet client needs. The planes feature consumer electronics, larger windows and generous legroom. These aircraft, which can accommodate up to eight passengers, are also fast, boasting a 547-mph cruising speed. And with a range of more than seven hours, the aircraft can fly you cross-country or to Hawaii.

Large Jets For Transcontinental Travel

When it comes to large jets, NetJets fields the Bombardier Challenger 650, a world-class transcontinental aircraft that can whisk along 11 passengers at a top cruising speed of 540 mph and complete flights as long as eight hours and 45 minutes.

Offering industry-leading comfort, the 650 provides passengers with a wide range of workplace, communication and entertainment solutions. The list begins with NetJets Connects Text & Talk, the operator’s proprietary talk and text enabler. Next, there’s the NetJets On-Demand In-Flight Entertainment System that is made accessible through personal high-definition monitors.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and universal power outlets make connectivity easy, and there’s a full-service galley so that flight attendants can nourish passengers in style.

Long-Range Jets For Planet-Spanning Flights

Need to go from Seattle to Beijing, or San Francisco to Sydney? Take a look at NetJets’ long-range jets.

In addition to the Bombardier Global 5500 and Global 6000, NetJets now flies the new Bombardier Global 7500. This high-performance aircraft is capable of reaching more destinations faster than ever before. In fact, as NetJets’ largest and fastest jet, the Global 7500 is now the company’s new flagship aircraft.

The cabin has a full range of electronic features, including intuitive lighting and climate controls and an entertainment system, which can be enjoyed on a 40-inch 4K screen. Ergonomic comforts include luxurious Nuage seating as well as Bombardier’s proprietary HEPA filtering system and circadian lighting, features that contribute to both in-flight comfort and post-flight acclimation to new time zones.

To this add a fully equipped, full-service, state-of-the-art galley, giving your dedicated NetJets flight crew everything needed to provide you with premium in-flight meals, complemented by NetJets’ wine selections curated by noted vintner Bart Araujo and offered exclusively on the company’s Global 7500.

In the cockpit, your pilots will appreciate superior visibility and advanced fly-by-wire technology. When it’s time to rest, crew members can retire to their own private area. Features such as these reflect the focus on safety and service that NetJets is known for.

A Wide Range And A Laser Focus

NetJets complements the range and diversity of its fleet with a commitment to specialization: Each NetJets pilot focuses on a single piece of equipment, becoming an expert in its operation. On top of that, the average flight experience of most NetJets captains far exceeds the industry standard.

NetJets maintenance workers specialize as well, learning the intricacies of a limited pool of aviation assets. NetJets’ equipment never leaves the custody of its flight or maintenance crews, either. With NetJets, the best equipment combines with the best-trained flight and maintenance crews to create a company culture that offers unparalleled safety.

Why NetJets?

NetJets pioneered the shared (fractional) ownership model, initiating a larger group of travelers into the flexibility and convenience of private jet travel—and giving them access to more than 5,000 airports in 200-plus countries and territories.

With its diverse and consistently renewed fleet, NetJets offers travelers the options they need, for wherever they need to go.
